The members of the Downtown Alliance hope you will join our organization. The Downtown alliance of Fayetteville has been formed to encourage business, residential and retail growth in downtown Fayetteville, to promote the downtown to the public and to represent the common interests of downtown merchants, professionals, property owners and residents.
Some of our accomplishments are:
- Initiated meaningful dialogue with City government on downtown issues. This continues through meetings between the Alliance Board of Directors and City Staff.
- Work with the Arts Council to help organize the annual Dickens Holiday to promote and alternative to mall shopping the day after Thanksgiving.
- Downtown Halloween Trick-or-Treating is a phenomenal success increasing steadily in participation each year.
- Put on the annual Candlelight Loft Tour of apartments showcasing living downtown.
- Helped to direct expenditure of MSD tax dollars for downtown improvement projects.
- Lobbied to increase the scope of the Person Street and Gillespie Street streetscape improvements to match the Hay Street streetscape.
- Worked on various committees to affect positive changes to the sign and appearances ordinances to allow merchants to more effectively market their businesses.
- Worked with the city to bring and keep a professional parking management firm to Fayetteville as a step in resolving downtown parking issues and managing parking in the future.
- A map of downtown sights, attractions and businesses being distributed through I-95 Welcome Centers, local events and locations.
- Have a downtown information and volunteer center at 222 Hay Street.
- Established open dialogue with City Police and are working on a downtown community watch program. Vigilant in keeping the Mounted Patrol from being cut due to budget constraints.
- Provide a wide range of information on downtown through monthly meetings with speakers and actions on pertinent issues.
- Affected changing Hillsborough Street from one way, away from downtown, to two-way thus allowing Airborne and Special Operations Museum exiting visitors an easy-to-enter-downtown.
- Advocated for hiring a Downtown Manager and work closely with the Manager on downtown promotion and development.
- Host an increasingly popular Glory Days Memorial Celebration including the Field of Flags honoring contributions of our military.
- Advocating for streetscape improvements to Green Street.
- Currently making progress on issues like: recycling downtown, developing a long range landscaping plan an alley improvements.
- A multi media branding and advertising campaign including print, radio, internet and signage at the Crown Coliseum.
We hope you will join us! We meet the 2nd Tuesday of every month at various members businesses. You do not need to be a member to attend. Please come and visit. Your support in bringing Downtown Fayetteville’s revitalization is vital. We look forward to your involvement and participation.
