The Downtown Alliance of Fayetteville is a not-for-profit membership organization representing the common interests of downtown merchants, professionals, property owners and residents that work to encourage downtown business, residential and retail growth and promote downtown to the public.
The Downtown Alliance has set aside specific goals such as improving the image of downtown as a safe, vibrant and vital center for business shopping and entertainment, improving access to downtown retail shops and businesses and promoting downtown as a venue for arts and entertainment. DOWNTOWN HIGHLIGHTS
Fourth Friday of every month (except Dec) 7:00-10:00 p.m. Location: all of downtown features exhibits, entertainment, refreshments and featured artists all combine to bring the art of Fayetteville to everyone – free of charge! Businesses in historic downtown Fayetteville join the action and become artistic venues on Fourth Friday, featuring the arts in all forms, for all ages. Fourth Friday is like an old fashioned “Gallery Crawl.” Folks of all ages get a taste of Fayetteville's art and entertainment while enjoying the small galleries, bookstores, bistros and shops with unique items for shoppers. |

Lecture and book-signing by Alan Hoffman at Cumberland County Headquarters Library on Maiden Lane for his translation of LAFAYETTE IN AMERICA by Auguste Lavasseur, Lafayette’s secretary who accompanied him on his tour of the United States in 1824-25. This is the first complete translation into English and was published in 2006. Program starts with the showing of a brief documentary on the 250th birthday celebration. |

Bus tour of the LAFAYETTE TRAIL
Bus tour of the LAFAYETTE TRAIL with the Convention and Visitors Bureau and popular historian Bruce Daws. Come early to enjoy French pastries and coffee and see Lafayette’s carriage from 1825, then get onboard for a tour of the Convention and Visitors’ Bureau’s newest Cultural Heritage Trail. Lunch afterward at McDuff’s Tea Room and Emporium. Tour starts with refreshments at 9:30 at the Fayetteville Independent Light Infantry museum on Burgess Street. $20 fee but only 30 spaces available.
